Blog: Submitting Blackboard Work

Blackboard serves several main purposes:

  • to house the work you need to complete, namely:
    • Quizzes
    • Assignments
    • Exams
    • Homework   (if applicable to your course)
  • to indicate the progress of your work
  • to provide grades once your work has been submitted and graded

Submitting your Work

Work must be submitted before deadline

"If you don't submit your work, it can't be graded."

Well, that makes perfect sense, and shouldn't be an issue. But there is one sticky wicket: work can be saved before it is submitted. And while this is a good thing for work which does not have to be completed in one sitting, it is a bad thing in that the person sometimes forget that the all-important last thing to do is actually submit  the work.

work → save progress → work → save progress → ... → submit

It is your responsibility to submit your work before the deadline. If you perform work but fail to actually submit it before the deadline, then it cannot be graded, and the score necessarily defaults to a zero.

⚠️

Work not submitted by the deadline scores a zero
